Start on non-stretched curly hair: “Day-two or day-three curls are best because they have elevated, providing natural volume,” explains Jeannetta.

Avoid the stiff and formal look: “If you must set the natural curl, use very minimal product and plenty of water to diffuse. You want to define the curls with hold, but not make them too stiff like first-day styled hair.”

Watch those fingers: “Use a light touch so you don’t disturb curl groupings too much and create unwanted frizz.”
