The story: “Renee always just lets me do what I do best. She’s had some color hiccups along the way over the years; so when she started coming to me, she just trusted me fully to help her create a new and modern look. Renee’s natural starting level is a neutral level 4 with about 20 percent gray…everywhere except for around her face, where its closer to 80 percent.”
The challenge: “When we first started with Renee, it was definitely a bit of a struggle, since there were so many tones and colors to work against. And, we had the added challenge of lightening against the darker root color that we used to match her natural level.”
The strategy: “What made this great was that we didn’t go for a perfect fix in one shot. We took our time and achieved a beautiful dimensional finish over several appointments. Even though that can be a difficult concept for clients to understand – especially when they’re eager for a new look – it’s important to be very clear in your communication of expectations and goals. Renee was fully on board for taking the slow-and-steady approach in order to help her hair stay healthy. And that patience paid off!”
The road map: “Every time she came in, we alternated between foils and Balayage, as well as the placement of the highlights. After about three visits, that gave Renee a look that was super dimensional and modern.”
