Beauty from one generation to the next…
For our superstar pro, Jeannetta, a deeply-rooted passion for beauty started early.
“I come from a family of cosmetologists; my dad is a licensed barber, and my aunt is still a very active hairstylist. I’ve always been artistic and very good with my hands. As a child and teen, I spent soooooo much time in the salon. I got into nails first at a very young age, doing designs with a piece of thread and acrylic paint at our 8th grade cafeteria table! Next, I started doing hair on myself…then my friends’ and family’s hair…and I was good at it! After my first year of college, I BEGGED my mom to let me attend hair school, promising I would go back to college when I was done (and I did). My Mom folded with much trepidation; and the rest is history!”
Jeannetta shares the passion with her daughters…
In a lively GRWM (well, it’s more like Get Ready With US!), Jeannetta and her girls get their glam on quickly, before they hit the mall for a day of fun and fashion.
“We wanted to doll ourselves up to go shopping, and not spend all morning doing it.” That included plenty of laughing and wisdom in front of the mirror. “My daughters are curious about my beauty routine and always ask questions,” explains Jeannetta. “Honestly, I love that. I want them to have their own self-care routines, so I give them all the information they want and let them experiment and be creative.”
The bonus? All that free reign leads to lots of learning – on both sides of the mirror.
“Be open to experimenting, and help each other,” urges Jeannetta. “I lean on my daughters for styling advice as much as they do me ,and I’m the pro! I learn so much from them!”
