Julianne Hough: Redhead Back To Blonde Formula

The backstory: Julianne Hough may be recognized for her role as an extraordinary dancer and actress, but this celeb is just as well known for her gorgeous blonde mane — and after a six-month stint as a redhead, it was time to “go home.” “Being a redhead helped me dive into my womanhood and embrace my sexuality. Now I’m ready to jump back to my roots with everything I learned and integrated in to my body and spirit,” explained the star to People magazine. Adds Riawna, “She wanted to go back to the strong, grounded blonde that she is.”

The challenge: The seven-hour color transformation was no easy feat. Says Riawna, “When doing a color correction like this you pray to the hair gods and hope all goes as planned. And luckily for her it did.” And even with the skillset of a champion Hollywood hairdresser, it took Capri several passes to perfect the honeyed-blonde look, making sure to remove every hint of red from Julianne’s strands.

The rescue: “With patience and time it can be done in one day. We used Joico Color Eraser and then went through and did a full head of baby-fine highlights. Every single hair needed to be lightened,” Riawna told People editors. She posted the inside scoop on her Insta account afterwards: “Thank goodness for @joico Color Eraser for making the impossible possible in only one day! Red to Blonde is an all day affair, breakfast and lunch and hopefully not dinner. When you do a color correction like this, focus on your client, book out the day for her.
