Result: soft, traditional foil blend

Horizonal parting and highlights that go all the way to the root are the key to this strategy, which delivers a soft, traditional foil blend. “This is a great blonding technique and can also be used for gray blending,” explains Sarah, who says the results are really soft because “your weaves will be very fine.”

Expensive Brunette Zigzag

Result: ribbons of dimension

Using a clever zigzag pattern, this medium weave-and-tease pairs up with a root smudge for gorgeous ribbons of dimension. “This will give a deep root at the crown and is great when creating those expensive-looking brunettes, says Sarah.

Result: multidimensional diffused vibe

“Surface painting is the key to this stunning diffused look,” explains Sarah, who cautions that the transition area will create some warmth. “This is great for clients who enjoy multidimensional color!”

It’s all about the “V”

Result: high-contrast highlights

By creating a diagonal back V section and painting on slants, Sarah keeps most of the depth at the crown. “This is a perfect way to create a high-contrast look,” she says.
