Shear Genius, Season 1 winner Anthony Morrison and his fellow stylists at Londoner Salon & Spa proved that stylists CAN make a difference! On October 17, 2010, the Manhattan Beach, Calif.-based salon hosted a Beauty for a Cure cut-a-thon and raised more than $5,700 for City of Hope breast cancer awareness and research. The cut-a-thon was part of a nationwide breast cancer awareness and fundraising initiative.

Christina Amato-Smith, breast cancer survivor and owner of Top Cuts Salon in Long Island, New York, is the epitome of a stylist making a difference. Amato-Smith recently hosted a fundraiser to benefit women battling breast cancer and raised a whopping $15,000! To ensure the event's success, the salon's staff donated their time to offer hair services, local businesses donated food and raffle items, and a DJ kept the close to 300 attendees tripping the light fantastic.

When Joico and City of Hope's Beauty for a Cure campaign called on stylists and salons to make a difference last October, Jaki Berry, a stylist and Distributor Sales Consultant, answered the call LOUD and clear. Berry rallied 15 salons in her Northern California territory to join the nationwide breast cancer fundraising initiative and raise more than $5,000 for City of Hope, one of the leading cancer research and treatment hospitals in the world.
